IAS person-centered Care Advocacy Academy

The Person-Centred Care Advocacy Academy is set to grant fellowships to 15 advocates for their participation in a range of interactive workshops. This initiative is a collaborative effort between IAS – the International AIDS Society – and the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), in conjunction with Gilead Sciences. The program is tailored for professionals operating in central, eastern, southern, and western Africa who wish to improve their advocacy abilities in order to advance person-centred service delivery projects.

  1. The goals are to:

Offer training and skill development in current person-centred care methods for service delivery and address existing obstacles to their implementation
Create resources to share information on person-centred approaches and their significance with the broader community, such as policymakers, the media, and program managers
Facilitate engagement with prominent researchers and supporters in the field
Assist participants in recognizing service delivery deficiencies in their communities and crafting action plans to address these obstacles

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Have sufficient proficiency in English
  • Demonstrate involvement as an advocate or healthcare provider (including peer educators) in the HIV field for at least two years
  • Be affiliated with HIV associations, groups or committees based in central, eastern, southern or western Africa
  • Be interested in person-centred care approaches
