Criteria for Eligibility in The Gates Scholarship Program
To be eligible for The Gates Scholarship, candidates must meet all of the following criteria:
- Must be a high school senior
- Must belong to at least one of the following ethnic groups: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American
- Must be Pell-eligible
- Must be a US citizen, national, or permanent resident
- Must maintain good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)
- Must intend to enroll full-time in a four-year degree program at a US accredited, non-profit, private or public college or university.
(Note: For American Indian/Alaska Native applicants, proof of tribal enrollment is necessary.)
