The scholarship provides a transformational experience to talented and driven women who may have believed that an MBA program was out of reach due to limitations and disruptions in their professional paths. These could include family obligations, forced migration and financial constraints.
Candidates should apply for the BackPack-Excellence Women Scholarship in parallel to their IMD MBA application.

The BackPack Foundation is a non-profit foundation based in Switzerland. Donations to the BackPack Foundation are tax-deductible within the framework of the legal provisions. We aim to partner with academic institutions in Switzerland that are committed to supporting women who are looking to access transformative experiences through higher education in the fields of leadership, biosciences, medicine and technology. Aim and Benefits of BackPack Foundation Excellence Scholarship
- Maximum amount to cover the full tuition fees and living expenses of the IMD MBA program.
- Partial scholarships may also be given.
Requirements for BackPack Foundation Excellence Scholarship Qualification
Priority will be given to female candidates who have experienced the hardship of limitations or disruptions in their paths. For example, being forced to leave their homeland or home region due to conflict, natural disaster, persecution or because of limited opportunities for their advancement.
Interview date, Process and Venue for BackPack Foundation Excellence Scholarship
The admissions team will inform you of their final decision. Those candidates who met the criteria and made a solid impression will receive an offer of admission to our esteemed IMD MBA program for the following year.
You will then need to confirm if you would like to accept our offer and to pay the necessary non-refundable deposit to secure your seat.
